Parish Nursing
A Parish Nurse is a . . .
HEALTH EDUCATOR identifying the health needs in the Church and planning educational health programs.
INTEGRATOR OF FAITH AND HEALTH promoting an understanding of the relationship between the Christian Faith, and healthy lifestyle practices.
PERSONAL HEALTH COUNSELOR during times of illness or concern through listening, assessment, education and referral. This can be done in the home, hospital, nursing home, or the Church office setting.
REFERRAL AGENT linking individuals with physical, emotional or environmental needs to community resources and services.
HEALTH ADVOCATE assisting individuals to seek and obtain the health care they are entitled to, and helping them understand outcomes or care giver instructions.
SUPPORT GROUP DEVELOPER as the needs of Church members become apparent.
Any group or individual associated with our Church can seek the help of the Parish Nurse through our Health Ministries Program.

We function under the direction of the Health Ministry Team; a group of individuals from our congregation who advise and guide the Parish Nurses to promote the Physical, Emotional and Spiritual Health of our church body. In conjunction with other Health Care Providers, Caregivers, and Ministerial Staff, using Jesus Christ as our model, the Parish Nurses will use their gifts, professional abilities, and networking resources to facilitate and promote congregational physical, emotional, and spiritual health to the highest level.
