Pastor Ron Gormong Ron has been senior pastor at Spooner Wesleyan for 22 years. He grew up on a farm in Indiana, and in his early adult years had a career in computer programming, moving him to Eau Claire, Wisconsin. But God was prompting, calling Ron to leave the business world to prepare for the ministry. So, he attended Asbury Theological Seminary in the early '80's, and following graduation, served as Assistant Pastor at the Eau Claire Wesleyan Church, where he met Karen. In 1988, Ron accepted the invitation to pastor the Spooner Wesleyan Church, and soon after, he and Karen married. During their time in Spooner, three children have come into their lives: Brittany, Ethan, and Gracia. The Gormongs enjoy working with people, music, outdoor sports, and seeing new places. Ron has a heart for knowing and communicating God's Word, and loves to see people "get it" and really experience the hope and truth it brings. Watching people grow in their relationship with God, and helping the ministries of Spooner Wesleyan Church play a part in that growth, is a source of great joy and passion. |

Pastor Chopper Brown Chopper was born and raised in Colorado. He grew up outside of Pueblo with his parents and two brothers. At an early age Chopper committed his life to Jesus and had numerous moments of God's calling on his life. He attended the University of Sioux Falls with plans to be an elementary school teacher, but God had other plans. Part way through his third year of college, on a Sunday morning, Chopper overwhelmingly felt the Lord calling him to another life path. He began the process of following the Lord's call to full-time Christian ministry. While at the University of Sioux Falls, Chopper met the love of his life, Andrea. They began dating and married in June 2001. In 2002, Chopper and Andrea made the decision to leave South Dakota and attend Asbury Theological Seminary in Wilmore, KY, where they grew as a couple and as a family. While in Kentucky, both of their children, Caleb (2003) and Lucas (2005), were born. Chopper graduated from Asbury Theological Seminary with a Masters of Divinity in the spring of 2006. That same summer the Browns felt the call to Spooner Wesleyan Church to serve as Assistant Pastor, a decision that has remained to be a God-appointed decision. Chopper was Ordained as a Minister in the Wesleyan Church in 2008. Pastor Chopper is passionate about seeing people of all ages live out the truth of the Gospel of Jesus and being transformed by the Power of Holy Spirit. |
