Helping Hands

Helping Hands is a community outreach of the Spooner Wesleyan Church that collects, stores and distributes household items free of charge to those in need. We serve many families and individuals. Some have lost their jobs while others are relocating due to house fires, or natural disasters, etc.

No strings are attached to the distributed items. They are yours to keep. People are referred to us through Social Services, food pantry administrators, other churches and by word of mouth.

Helping Hands brings hope to individuals and families by sharing what we have and sharing the love of Jesus Christ.

How can I help?

The following are items that are asked for on a regular basis. We welcome donations of things, but these are the most requested items. Kitchen items and bedding and definitely needed. Gas appliances are not accepted. We accept any household items that are in reasonably good condition. Clothing is not accepted nor distributed.

Financial contributions are used to purchase storage containers and other items that are not on hand when needed. All items should be in reasonably good repair - they don't need to be new - and soft items should be washed.

"For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me." Then the righteous will answer him, "Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?" The King will reply, "I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me." Matthew 25:35-40
